APodA Hosts | Webinar - The Environmental Impact of Waste Generated in a Podiatry Clinic

Join us for this 40-minute presentation and 10-minute Q&A session on the topic of The Environmental Impact of Waste Generated in a Podiatry.

What we will cover:

1. Demonstrate knowledge of global warming, carbon footprint, carbon emissions from healthcare delivery
2. Understand the types of waste streams generated in a podiatry clinic and the carbon emissions generated from their disposal
3. Understand the environmental implications of inappropriate waste disposal
4. Demonstrate knowledge of the most environmentally responsible methods to dispose of waste generated in podiatry practice
5. Knowledge of environmentally sustainable podiatry practice

The Presenter:

Dr Judith Singleton

After graduating with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Queensland, Judith worked in both public and private hospitals and managed community pharmacies in metropolitan and rural Queensland and the UK, as well as owning two community pharmacies. In 2009 Judith commenced working for Medication Services Queensland, Queensland Health, as a Senior Project Officer in the area of New Models of Pharmacy Practice and was a recipient of a Queensland Health award for her research and work in this area. Judith joined QUT in January 2015 after 9 years at UQ. Judith's research focus is in sustainability; specifically, reducing the environmental impact of healthcare waste (including pharmaceutical waste). Judith also researches in disaster health management, looking at the impacts of disasters on community pharmacy operations and primary health care systems and infrastructure. She is research lead of the EARTH (Environmentally Active Research Transforming Healthcare) research group based at QUT which belongs to the Centre for Climate, Environment, and Sustainability. Judith has 24 peer-reviewed publications, 14 in Q1 journals and three publications in the top 10% most cited publications world-wide.
