JFAR covers a wide range of clinical subject areas, including diabetology, paediatrics, sports medicine, gerontology and geriatrics, foot surgery, physical therapy, dermatology, wound management, radiology, biomechanics and bioengineering, orthotics and prosthetics, as well as the broad areas of epidemiology, policy, organisation and delivery of services related to foot and ankle care.
Why research matters in podiatry
Research plays a critical role in the future of podiatry. It:
- Builds a robust evidence base to inform clinical decision-making
- Supports best practice, innovation, and continual improvement in patient care
- Enhances the credibility and visibility of podiatrists within the broader health system
- Influences policy, funding and scope of practice by demonstrating clinical impact
- Supports career pathways for clinicians, academics, and emerging leaders in the profession
By contributing to and engaging with research, podiatrists help shape the direction of the profession and ensure care remains contemporary and effective.
