Two Day Workshop | MME Level 1 & 2 Manipulation, Mobilisation and Exercises (MME) for Lower Limb Ailments with Matt Maguire
This interactive and hands on workshop (one day for each level) will provide a comprehensive overview of how to provide treatment and treatment management plans using MME to treat a wide range of foot and leg ailments, including Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis, Morton’s Neuromas, Osgood Schlatter’s, Bursitis, etc.
MME Level 1 will provide research on the effectiveness of manipulative therapies. Outline how to conduct an initial consultation assessment of the lower limb. He will teach 14 techniques that can be done in a supine position to realign joints. He will teach 14 exercises that can be used to complement treatment.
In MME Level 2 Matthew Maguire will provide research on x-ray analysis. He will outline how to measure misaligned joints on x-rays and give participants time to practice. He will teach 14 techniques that can be done in a prone position to realign joints, and will cover contra indications of when to use and not use manipulative therapy.
Learning Outcomes
- To understand the theory behind manual therapies of lower limb mobilisation and manipulation.
- To understand contra-indications of when not to use mobilisations and manipulations.
- To correctly palpate the bones in the foot and associated structures.
- To correctly identify the difference between supination and pronation and how to treat over pronation and over supination.
- How to carry out an initial consultation to ascertain a relevant overview of the client’s underlying problems.
- To be able to correctly diagnose a number of biomechanical ailments of the foot and leg.
- To be able to construct a treatment plan to implement MME and when to review clients.
- To be able to request, read and identify misalignments of the feet and associated structures from x-rays.
- To be able to explain to a client where their misalignment is coming from and why that is causing the condition they have.
- To be able to correctly and safely perform mobilisations and manipulations in a prone and a supine position.
- To be able to identify contra indications to mobilisations and manipulations and come up with alternative methods.
- To be able to correctly and safely prescribe exercises that are relevant to the client’s condition.
- To know when to refer onto another practitioner.
