QLD | Brisbane | Foot Mobilisation: Assessment, Clinical Management and Treatment

**SOLD OUT**

Keen to attend? The same workshop is available on Saturday, 12 October in Cairns. To register for the Cairns workshop - open here

Mobilisation, adjusting and manipulation are all manual therapy terms that mean quite different things. Osteopaths and Physiotherapists have been using these techniques for many years.

As the recognised leaders in foot health and foot care, Podiatrists are uniquely positioned to understand what these techniques are and their role in improving and maintaining foot function.

This is a 1 day course that is designed to demystify the science and art of foot mobilisation. As Podiatrists, we are perfectly positioned to use our palpation and assessment skills to diagnose and treat many musculoskeletal conditions of the foot and leg.

Course Content

What is mobilisation and how does it work?

  • Some initial discussion on the history of foot mobilisation and some of the different styles and techniques available.
  • The science around foot mobilisation and how this influences different techniques.
  • Foot mechanical patterns and proprioception to explain why foot mobilisation is such an effective treatment.

Precautions and contraindications.

  • Possible side effects and which patients are not going to benefit from foot mobilisation.

What should my patients expect?

  • What is going to happen during and after treatment, how long does it last and how often do I need to repeat the treatment.
  • How do I know if I am doing it properly?

How to perform a screening and assessment to know when mobilisation would be appropriate

  • By understanding how foot mobilisation works, we are able to learn an assessment and screening process to determine what sort of mobilisation needs to be performed and how to tell if it has been successful.

Three simple techniques to get started

  • Learn some simple mobilisation techniques that will provide positive outcomes for your patients: The Talus | The Cuboid | The Navicular

What next?

  • By practicing and reviewing our techniques, we need to be comfortable that you can safely implement a mobilisation screening and treatment in your clinic on Monday and start helping to get your patients back on their feet even faster.

Question time

  • Review of days content and Q&A. Case studies.
