Stepping Into Their Shoes: Connecting with Neurodivergent Children in Podiatry - an OT perspective
Presented by paediatric Occupational Therapists, this session explores how connection, regulation and sensory processing can influence a neurodivergent child’s experience of podiatry. We’ll look at common challenges including touch sensitivity, difficulty tolerating foot examinations, socks, shoes and orthotics, and distress around unfamiliar environments and procedures. Participants will leave with practical, neuroaffirming strategies founded in relationships to build connection, enhance regulation and support children to participate with success in a clinical setting.
