Every step counts – How Podiatrists can shape the future of Para sport

Brisbane 2032 shapes as a key event in the Paralympic movement in Australia. Significant funding has been invested to establish entry pathways into sport for people living with impairments while Para Hubs have been embedded around Australia at each of the Institutes and academies of Sport. Eligible individuals now have great access to be a part of the journey into sports. Allied health providers, and more specifically, Podiatrists, will play a key role in identifying individuals who may be eligible and supporting them into the sporting landscape. This presentation will detail how to identify eligible individuals, what the programs look like that these individuals will be a part of and how to refer them into these programs.

James is a titled Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist currently working at the South Australian Institute of Sport (SASI) as a Classification Lead and Sports Physiotherapist within the SASI Para Hub. He is passionate about opening sporting opportunities to all. Prior to working at SASI, James worked in elite cricket with the South Australian Cricket Association.
