A practical guide to prescribing foot orthoses: Key considerations, tips and features required to ensure you get optimal clinical outcomes

Join us for this 40-minute presentation and 10-minute Q&A session on the topic of 'A practical guide to prescribing foot orthoses: Key considerations, tips and features required to ensure you get optimal clinical outcomes'.

When prescribing foot orthoses, it's crucial to start with 'why'—understanding the underlying condition and patient needs sets the foundation for effective treatment. In this webinar, Matthew Hotchkis, Certified Sports Podiatrist, will walk us through the role footwear plays in orthosis prescription, as the right shoe can enhance or hinder the functionality of the orthotic device. We will explore key design features and materials to consider in your prescription to achieve optimal outcomes and ensuring patient satisfaction.

Learning Objectives:

  1. The four non-negotiable principles when prescribing foot orthoses
  2. Does footwear affect orthoses prescription?
  3. Prefabricated orthoses vs semi-custom orthoses vs custom orthoses
  4. Common prescriptions errors to avoid
  5. Specific orthoses for common pathologies (heel pain, forefoot pain, MTSS)
