From Standards to Specialisation: The Future of Pedorthics in Podiatry

Join us for a webinar update from the Pedorthic Association of Australia (PAA). Podiatrist Angus Brewin will introduce the newly released Pedorthic Footwear Standards, formally endorsed by APodA in February 2026. These standards set a clear benchmark for assessing, prescribing and fitting pedorthic footwear.

Angus will outline how APodA and PAA are collaborating to develop Medical Grade Footwear criteria based on the standards, paving the way for a new APodA endorsement category. You’ll also hear how the standards will be promoted across podiatry channels and how they will feature in future collaborations.

This session will also discuss the new Pedorthic Postgraduate Program. The course is an AQF Level 8 qualification delivered through a Canadian university with Australian‑based practical training. With recognition of prior learning available for podiatrists, this pathway offers a valuable specialisation option that complements podiatry.

What we will cover:

1. Understand the core purpose of the new Pedorthic Footwear
2. Recognise how APodA and PAA are strengthening footwear governance
3. Discover the new Pedorthic Postgrad pathway for podiatrists
