In the PIB SIG’s next installment of the Lunch & Learn series, we will hear from Liona Aberdein, recruitment consultant well versed in overseas recruitment for allied health clinicians.
The session will explore the end-to-end recruitment process, including sourcing international talent, navigating regulatory and visa requirements, managing candidate expectations, and supporting both candidates and employers through relocation and onboarding. Drawing on real-world experience, the Liona will highlight common challenges, emerging trends, and practical strategies to achieve successful, sustainable overseas recruitment outcomes for podiatry clinics looking to explore this pathway.

Liona Aberdein
Liona Aberdein is a Recruitment Consultant and Division Manager for Aged Care and Allied Health at Omega Medical in Sydney, specialising in local and international recruitment of Allied Health professionals, including podiatrists. With close to 10 years of experience in recruitment across with a special focus on Health care across countries such as Australia, South Africa, and the United States, Liona has built deep expertise in end-to-end international & local recruitment, including candidate sourcing, regulatory navigation, employer support, and relocation management. She works closely with candidates, employers, and regulatory bodies to ensure a compliant, ethical, and streamlined pathway from initial application through to successful onboarding with the organization. Liona is highly experienced in managing candidate expectations, supporting clinicians, and helping employers build sustainable international talent pipelines while maintaining high standards of workforce quality and retention. Her work centers on improving outcomes, reducing recruitment risk, and ensuring both candidates and healthcare organisations are set up for long-term success.
