On Demand: Infection Control: Reprocessing of Instruments used in Podiatry
It's always been important, but now more than ever as a podiatrist you need to ensure you are across those actions required to meet your obligations with respect to Infection Prevention and Control, which includes instrument reprocessing.
Rob Mullins explores the practical realities of reprocessing instruments in non-clinical settings, including home visits, aged care and mobile podiatry services. Drawing on current infection prevention and control standards, this on-demand activity examines how to identify, assess and mitigate risks when ideal clinical environments are not available.
Through real-world examples you will gain practical strategies for maintaining compliance, developing defensible risk assessments and implementing safe, evidence-informed reprocessing practices in a range of non-clinical settings.
By completing this on-demand activity, you will gain an understanding of:
1. Key infection prevention and control requirements for non-clinical settings, including home visits, residential aged care, remote practice, and other mobile podiatry environments.
2. How to conduct and document practical risk assessments when ideal clinical facilities are unavailable, while remaining aligned with infection control standards and regulatory expectations.
3. Strategies for safely reprocessing, transporting, and storing instruments in mobile practice, including managing clean and dirty workflows, water quality, waste disposal, and infection control policies
