Introduction

This 4-part eCourse provides a structured and clinically practical approach for podiatrists of all career stages. Throughout, a focus on diagnosis and management to help upskill participants on some of the most common dermatological presentations seen in everyday podiatry practice.

Specifically, this course covers:

  • Module 1: Foundational and functional skin anatomy
  • Module 2: “Lumps” – Hyperkeratosis and Corns
  • Module 3: “Bumps” – Verruca Pedis and Intractable Plantar Keratoses
  • Module 4: “Wet Skin” – Hyperhidrosis

Each module delves into the pathogenesis, terminology, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis with instantly applicable knowledge of treatment options and strategies.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how the local foot environment influences dermatoses by explaining why foot skin is structurally and functionally different to other body regions.
  • Apply correct dermatology terminology to describe lesions and differentiate between hyperkeratotic lesions across various skin conditions.
  • Identify clinical, dermatoscopic features and patterns of various warts and keratoses
  • Distinguish between various forms of hyperhidrosis and understand it’s contribution to other foot specific skin conditions.
  • Utilise the latest treatment options for each of the categories of dermatoses to maximise clinical outcomes.

Biography

Joseph Frenkel

B. Pod. | M. Sc. | Grad. Dip. Derm.

Joseph is a Podiatrist and Academic with a decade of study and over 20 years of clinical experience. His primary work is in Podiatric Dermatology and is currently the consulting Podiatrist at the Skin Health Institute, as well as in his private practice Heel Me Podiatry. Joseph also holds academic positions at several Universities both in Australia and internationally, is a reviewer for medical journals and regularly presents locally and abroad.

He also founded and actively runs the Podiatric Dermatology Interest Group on Facebook which now has close to 6,000 members worldwide.

Certificate of Completion

  • An automated certificate of completion will be emailed to you upon the successful completion of all four (4) online assessments. (pass mark is 80% or higher, 2 attempts only)
  • APodA members can upload the CPD certificate to the CPD portal located in the Member Centre to easily track their CPD hours for the year.
