The Mastering Lower Limb Tendinopathy course has just been updated! The 6th edition provides an up-to-date research and clinical perspective, a complete walkthrough biopsychosocial assessment, biomechanics considerations, education/advice, and rehabilitation for common tendinopathies. Achilles, plantar fascia, tibialis posterior, patellar, proximal hamstring, and gluteal tendinopathies will be covered in detail.

  • Describe how diagnosis and assessment influence management eg pain irritability and cognitive-emotional factors
  • Discuss when and how tendon pathology influences clinical reasoning and management
  • Describe indications for imaging tendinopathy patients
  • Describe and implement biomechanics and kinetic chain considerations and assessment
  • Develop comprehensive rehabilitation strategies for common lower limb tendinopathies
  • Discuss specific strategies to maximise tendinopathy patient adherence, education, and buy-in
  • Plan and implement detailed return to sports progressions for sedentary people, runners, jumpers, multi-direction sports, etc
  • Describe the management of athletes in-season as well as maintenance programs
  • Discuss when to use adjunct conservative interventions (e.g. orthotics, manual therapy) and injections in different tendinopathy presentation
  • Describe the current understanding of tendinopathy pain and how this influences management

The Presenter:

Peter Malliaras

Peter Malliaras is a physiotherapist and researcher from Melbourne, Australia who specialises in tendinopathy. Since completing his Ph.D. in 2007 he has undertaken post-doctoral research in the UK and Australia whilst maintaining a strong clinical focus on managing people with persistent tendon pain. Currently, he is a Professor at Monash University Physiotherapy Department where his research focuses on understanding biopsychosocial impairments and developing better treatments for tendinopathy. He also currently co-leads an international consensus group striving to improve outcomes for people with Achilles tendinopathy by improving research rigor (e.g. core outcomes sets, consensus on diagnosis, etc)
