Expert and confidential wellbeing support when you need it: prioritising podiatrist’s mental health

Working in healthcare can be incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with its own unique set of pressures, especially for podiatrists. From managing patient expectations and maintaining clinical accuracy, to dealing with the physical demands of the role, podiatrists can find themselves navigating professional and personal stress.

In a high-responsibility profession such as ours, maintaining good mental health is not just important; it’s essential.

The emotional load of caring for others can sometimes lead to compassion fatigue, burnout, or anxiety. These challenges can affect your ability to make sound decisions, maintain focus during procedures, and communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.

Prioritising mental health helps us stay resilient, balanced, and effective in our roles, ensuring we can continue to deliver high-quality care without compromising our own wellbeing.

This Member Assistance Program provides access to qualified professionals including psychologists, social workers and counsellors that offer confidential and free short-term support for a variety of work-related and personal problems that may affect you at work or at home.

Converge’s clinicians are experienced across a wide range of issues, including:

  • Work and personal stress
  • Work, career and life changes
  • Personal and workplace relationships

  • Communication and relationship tension, conflict and breakdown
  • Grief and loss
  • Sleep and fatigue
  • Gambling, drug, alcohol and other addictions
  • Anger and violence

Importantly, details of your discussion will not be shared with your manager or workplace. Accessing support is a strength, not a weakness—and resources like Converge can help you thrive both professionally and personally.
