Updates to TAC's Allied Health Policy

As part of its efforts to streamline information and support better outcomes for clients, the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) has released a new Allied Health policy.

Key updates of note include:

  • The policy has been renamed from 'Allied Health and Physical Therapies' to 'Allied Health' policy.
  • It now integrates applied policies for several professions, including podiatry.
  • Discipline-specific provider guidelines are now embedded within the central policy document to make access and navigation easier.

The TAC pays the reasonable cost of allied health treatment and services required as a result of transport accident injuries. To provide TAC-funded podiatry, a podiatrist must:

  • Be registered under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (AHPRA) to practice in the podiatry profession (other than as a student).
  • Comply with the TAC Allied Health policy.
  • Adhere to the principles of the Clinical Framework for the Delivery of Health Services.
