As the 2026 school year kicks off, the Australian Podiatry Association (APodA) proudly wraps up its annual Back to School campaign, themed "Strong Steps Start Here."
Building on the success of previous years, the campaign worked to highlight the vital role of properly fitted school footwear in supporting children’s foot health and overall wellbeing.
Running from 5-31 January 2026, the campaign provided podiatrists and families nationwide with a rich array of free resources including shoe buying checklists, posters, activity sheets, and more, all designed to educate and inform podiatrists, parents and families.
The goal was clear: to encourage early foot checks and informed footwear choices that prevent discomfort and long-term foot problems, setting children up for a confident and comfortable school year.
The impact of the campaign was significant and measurable:
- 8,407 people reached across social media platforms, spreading awareness and engaging families in important conversations about foot health.
- 2,867 total downloads of campaign materials and resources.
- 2,610 partner resource downloads, showing widespread collaboration with schools, health professionals, and community organisations.
- 2x media features and interviews, amplifying its message to a broader audience.
- 7,616 visits to the Find a Podiatrist webpage, connecting families directly with qualified podiatrists for expert advice and care.

Thanks to our wonderful APodA members across Australia who played a crucial role, using the campaign materials to engage with their local communities and advocate for healthy feet.
This collective effort helped ensure that children’s shoes fit well and feel good, reinforcing the message that healthy feet are the foundation of a successful school year.
Looking forward, APodA remains dedicated to expanding its educational outreach and advocacy, aiming to make foot health a priority year-round, not just at back to school time.
